What oil filter are you using for your six cylinder?

I would assume we would use one with the anti-drain back valve. Can you please tell me brand and part number.

I see that the PF454 has an anti-drain back valve and the Wix 51069 doesn't. Like I suggested before, I would think we would want an anti-drain back valve.

According to O'Reilly, the WIX 51069 oil filter has an anti-drain back valve:

https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/wix/filters/engine-oil-filter/80c2d8dbb188/wix-oil-filter/wix0/51069/v/a/14022/automotive-car-1969-chevrolet-camaro?pos=2#

I used to buy K&N oil filters as they could be easily removed as they had a 1 inch fitting on the bottom of the filter, but they weren't always in stock, so I went back to AC Delco.

According to Summit Racing it doesn’t. How do you know which one is correct?

This much I can attest to, there is a guy in Pennsylvania who buys oil filters, strips them, and repaints them correctly for Concours cars-Wix. More expensive, better filters. I already used them on my car.

This is why I started this thread. So much misinformation. The Wix 51069 does not have an anti drain back valve. Should we have one on our filers? If we do, the Wix 51060 has one.  Did Chevrolet recommend one?

If you read the details of the WIX 51069 oil filter on the O'Reilly website, it states that the filter has a silcone anti drain back valve.  The WIX 51060 according to O'Reilly does not fit a 1969 Camaro with a six cylinder engine:

Her68His69,
I hope this info is helpful in your search, but I believe the screw-on oil filters '68 and up should "screw on" between the 230/250 sixes and the small block/big blocks - only difference is lengths, drainback valve, filtering, etc, which is important too.  When I was digging up the info on that old 230 I have from my first '69 Camaro, I noticed it still has a Fram PH30 that I must've put on over 35 years ago.  And the PH30 lists for the small block Chevys for some applications.  And I have big blocks/small blocks with the same filters - used to use AC Delco PF 35 (may be an old part# now) and now use mainly K&N.  Small blocks and big blocks have the filter vertical of course and the inline 6 sits at a bit of an angle.  But it may be easier to find a good filter that fits a 350 or 454 with the drainback valve (if that's what you want - I prefer one, don't think it hurts anything to have it), it should fit your inline 6.  Of course look at the length dimensions and make sure no interference or whatever, and check whatever other criteria are important to you.  So if I'm not right about this, please someone correct me, but I believe the inline 6/SBC/BBC all have same thread and filter base diameter.  Might be easier to find one that will work for you knowing that.

IIRC, the Delco oil filter number for 68 is only for 68. 69 is different.

Well I stand corrected. The Wix DOES have a silicone anti-drain back "valve" . You can clearly see it through the small holes. My apologies. Always learning. Thanks for setting me straight.
