124379L519635(or 9) from what I can see.  Its been lightly decked but its a good stamp.  i can't make out the trans vin to confirm btt the assembly date looks ok.

Might be a car with a missing engine/trans/axle.  I can't tell the full VIN for sure from the pics.

Kurt or Bill, do you think it is 9L519638 ?

I will ask for better pics.

I emailed the seller and he came back with 19L519638 so the full VIN would be 124379L519638 and it IS in the db from 1999. I don't know if the owner then still has the car but I'll email him and let him know.

I don't understand that statement. The original car is owned by someone other than the Craigslist seller so how does he know of the car??? And also what does he mean by "not available"?

Guy with the engine probably found the guy with the car and tried to buy the car.

Yep. The Craigslist seller just replied that yes, the location of the car is known and the current owner doesn't want the drive train. He's going a different route (which probably means custom)

What do you guys think it would cost to get that motor back to original 302 specifications? It's missing the original cam, crank, rods, pistons,Dist.

Wasted money unless the car comes up for sale.  And then it's probably still not economical if it is restomod'd.

That's a restamped pad, IMO.
It's also been for sale on FB.
