Hole in trunk pan for 1969 camaro for fuel sending unit
« on: June 09, 2023, 11:45:19 PM »
Hello,
I had to replace my trunk pan, and am now installing the fuel tank and sender.  I realized I did not take note of where the sending unit comes through the trunk pan.  Does anyone have a picture and measurements where this hole for the tan wire should be drilled.  What is the whole size?  Also where does the ground wire attach?  Thanks for your help.

Do you have any pictures or measurements where to drill the hole?

You can scale it appx & double check your sender grommet before final drilling.

The ground wire attaches here, on the doubler that the tank straps attach to.

Lloyd do you have a "After" photo?

It is a 'loaded question, I want to discuss the "Electrical Terminal" used Originally and on GM service parts and repop / aftermarkets.

Jim, I'll assume this is what you meant. The original, factory installed fuel sending unit ground wire terminal has a squared off end and an integrated washer in the center which is unseen when the grounding screw is attached (per the photo in Reply #5). The GM service replacement (non-reproduction) ground wire terminal is oval and does not have an integrated washer. For Legends judging the GM service replacement sending unit is accepted without a points deduction providing a star washer is added and is visible. In the photo below I have not added the star washer.
