Life's too short.  If you like it and want it and have the money to do it all.  Go for it.  But if you are planning to flip then walk away.  If it were me I'd walk and sell all the NOS parts etc. and look for an unrestored car that is solid.

Well it certainly couldn’t be a flip! Unless I just wanted to through money out the window!

 I only am considering purchasing it because I can see my convertible will be done soon and I really enjoyed working on it….I completely agree with you on finding a better car…open to any car with original drivetrain no mater what size engine. 230,250,327,350 however I only want cars with complete numbers/born with drivetrain…..and ALL of them seem to be priceless.

This car to me would be an easy decision if car body was not so rough. I would think I could buy this car for $4000 in the condition it’s in and seller would be happy, not the case here.
I’m wondering if I just shouldn’t tell him to list it and if it doesn’t sell call me?

I just would hate to see the parts I have end up on a restomod where aftermarket parts would work fine.

4k seems very unrealistic in todays reality; even for a basket case. If you can get it for that, great! But the owner probably knows it's worth more than that.

It’s definitely a Flintstone car….there is not much salvaging of original sheet metal, trim tag, “useable” cowl structure and born with drivetrain is essentially what it is.

Also owner does know what it is, he has been honest and forthright on everything about car. I do want current owner to make money on deal, this car is one of 6 flippers he bought in package deal.

I do realize it’s upside down on value of at least $40,000 when finished that’s why I was hoping to get it for a decent price. My gut tells me not to buy….My desire tells me I’m the best buyer for this  car. That’s why I’m here asking for group thoughts.

It would also have to sit for a bit while I finish other car.

Upside down on value is relative. If you don’t need to sell it, only stupid money talks come sell time.

If you do not want to be upside down on the car when completed, walk away. However, the caveats are, 1- you have a lot of the parts already, 2- you do a lot of the work yourself; that will save you a great deal of money. But would it be enough to keep you upright? Probably not.

Another way to look at it is this, if you intend to keep the car for a long time, your investment may catch up with inflation in time. If you're looking to flip it soon after completion, don't waste your time, parts or money.

I know….this car pretty much needs everything. I really hate to past it up because of all the factory options however after hard consideration I decided if I can’t get stripped car for $7500 or less I would have to pass.

I'd love to see a restoration done on that car, but not with my money...lol. I think you're making a wise choice there.
