And only big block equipped 1967 Camaros with the 396/325 hp engine got the TH400 transmission.  1453 produced.

It is a 1967 small block engine but it could be a low horsepower 327 and those did not get stamped on the front pad.

C'mon Bryon. It should at least have the suffix code! You know that!!

His car is a 68, so 5,466 Turbo 400 transmissions.

And no, the car's not in the database.

Thanks Bryon. Yea I know, I have a hodgepodge of different items on this car. That is why I am trying to get more info on where these items originated. I can't even be sure it's a 350 in there with out more info. I will clean and send picture.

Thanks

We will see with the new pics. Play along Ed.  :)

A 1967 CE engine would NOT have anything stamped on the pad in most cases.  :)  And those were not decked. I am not convinced this one was decked, yet.

I disagree with that statement, but I'll let you take the wheel.

CE stampings started in about late August of 1967 for the 68 model year. Many examples of blank pads.

Train wreck, I need to stop responding by tiny phone screen.😳🥲

I was going by the engine casting date!   B 1 7

If it was a CE engine from that time, it would NOT have gotten stamped. End of story on that.  If it was a warranty engine, there will be some information stamped on the underside of the starter mounting pad area with the assembly plant, month and year of assembly but that's it.

I can't tell from the pics if it was ever stamped or if it was decked and modified. Doesn't matter.

Bottom line. Engine is not original - it's a 1967 engine in a 1968 car, so no go.  TH is not original - those were only installed in big block Camaros from 1967 to 1969.

Clean off the pad with some lacquer thinner on a rag, take hi resolution pics and email them to me at bcm66@cox.net and we can determine for sure if it has been decked. I am not convinced but it may be the case.

Corrected to add “VIN”.

Pictures were sent. Putting one here also.

Engine not original. No big deal. My engine is not the original one to the car either.

Yea, I knew when I bought it that there was not to much original on it. I am good with that. I am just having a good time making it better than when I got it.  :)

Today I found this set of numbers by the filter. Do they tell us anything? I did not see these anywhere in the guides.
