Prep and Painting the Block
« on: May 16, 2007, 02:57:10 PM »
Hey guys,

i found an good old 454 and bought it for the camaro. I am going to install it but before i do i want to clean the motor up without tearing it apart. What is a good way of getting the oil and grease out of the cast before painting. Now remeber the enigie is complete and i am going to reseal it but that is as far as I am planning on pulling it apart.

Any suggestions.

So far i have sparyed it down with brake clean and pressure washed the crap out of it but i have all the little spots to get cleaned before i paint it.

Thanks
Jay

Use Auto Zone carburetor cleaner--that stuff will melt ugly off an ape.
