Could be that the paint shop who did the job omitted painting the back panel semi-flat for BB's and the owner took it on his own to do it right?
Except, the consensus believes gloss black is correct for tail panel on bb cars. So owner did not do it “right”, according to the accepted standard.
Well I'm not one to go with the consensus for the reason being that , being the old dude that I am, have seen black 69's from the show room floor with satin black tail
panels. Matter of fact,  back in the 60's I lived right next to a dirt lot that the Chevy dealer across from my apt. would use to park the new vehicles. I hi-tail it  their
to check out all the 67-69 Camaros - SS's, Z28's , RS's .Who's to say that at some point Chevy decided to change the color combo for the trim but I can only go by what I have seen.
Miss those days.
