How do they shine up aluminum parts like that?????
« on: April 19, 2007, 09:47:28 PM »
Greetings...

I have seen several pictures of restorations where they have assembled the engine and attached the bell housing and the tranny to the back for easier installation to the engine bay....and the aluminum muncie and bell housing are so clean and bright...especially up next to a freshly painted engine.  Does anyone know how they prep these parts so that they look good upon installation?  Is there a chemical, or is media blasting the only way to "restore" the tranny and bell housing?

Thanks,
Mike T.

Usually a tumbling-reskinning process to restore these parts to new condition correctly.  We have one of these machines.  Very expensive but it does the job right.  Glass beading and sand blasting makes the parts too dull and everything sticks to them when you do that including finger prints, dirt and dust.  Check out our website, www.z28camaro.com.
