RS Head Lamp Bezels Needed, 68 Z28
« on: April 14, 2022, 10:14:24 PM »
Checking here to see if anyone may have an original pair of NOS rally sport head lamp bezels.  I'm trying to finish my last restoration project, a 1968 Z28 that I've known since new, and it was sold new at A.D. Anderson Chevrolet (where my '67 Z28 race car was also sold).  Anderson was the flagship performance dealer in Baltimore.  Hope to have it done for summer cruise events.  It's a factory cowl plenum car and originally like my white survivor Z28 with Kustom headers.  Only 87 Z28s got both options.

Part #3898149 and 3898150.  Any help in locating a set is greatly appreciated!

Surely you're aware that HBC has them...only $470 for the pair! :-\

I talked to Jim about a month ago, said he would check and I never heard back from him.

I checked his website. They’re listed and available, but you might be back peanut butter and jelly sandwiches again for awhile.

Careful buying NOS. I was in a Camaro parts business when GM discontinued these. The parts made in the last year or so of production fit poorly.
Learning more and more about less and less...

I bought a pair of the bezels from HBC and while I can't comment on the fitment yet, they are very nice looking.
I have nos upper & lower rs moldings and wanted all to match up but we will see one day.

Originally I was going to try and modify the nos rs fenders I purchased many moons ago to standard fenders but have decided against this and now going to make it an rs.

I'd say NOS bezels are way over priced and they don't fit perfect anyway. Look at some vintage photos and a lot of times the edges don't line up with the grill so good. Personally, I'd look at what CHQ has to offer.

Here's a shot of mine. Everything, grill and fenders were NOS, purchased about 30yrs ago (when they were affordable ;)), EXCEPT the bezels! I guess they weren't available "over the counter" back then or I would've got them. And I don't recall what brand these repops were. CHQ didn't exist back then. The fit was good with only minor tweeking needed.

Compared to the bezels,my nos fenders were around $300 when I bought them. That rs frontend does look good with the repops.

Well, actually they did exist - only it was Rick's First Generation (pre-Eckler's buyout) back then. And a danged good company it was. I was disappointed in the sale of the company, glad to see it resurface partially as CHQ, another danged good company -

Midnight Oil Muscle Car parts located in Athens GA, if not owned by Rick, has more than tangential connection to him.  The white and magenta 69 Camaro T/A or A stock race car "Tony's back door" owned by Rick was for sale on the Midnight oil site a while back.

Mine (fenders) were $210 ea, including extensions. I recall the parts guy commenting how expensive they were! :)

Thanks, I forgot about that. The bezels pictured above were purchased at "Classic Camaro". About the time they changed to Classic Industries, I went to Rick's for repro needs. Then when they changed to Ecklers, I went to (and currently go to) HBC. lol
