A 1969 Camaro RS/SS Z11 convertible was used as the pace car for Les Trois Heures du Circuit SCCA Trans American race held at Circuit Mont-Tremblant, St. Jovite, Québec, Canada on Sunday, August 3, 1969.  Mark Donohue won the event in his Penske Camaro Z28.

Although it is mistitled as "1968," footage of the 1969 event can be seen on Youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMU2G-1no-Y

On the 14th lap of the race there was a huge, multi-car crash that took out several of the leading contenders.  The race was stopped under the red flag to clear the track.  This fantastic color photo shows the Camaro pace car out front of the single file field on the formation lap prior to the resumption of the race.  That is eventual winner Mark Donohue directly behind the Camaro pace car followed by the second Penske Camaro driver, Ed Leslie, who eventually finished in third place.

Here is another shot of the Camaro pace car on the formation lap prior to the resumption of the race after the red flag.

Here are a few close up photos of the door decal used on the 1969 Camaro RS/SS Z11 convertible pace car.  I cropped them from photos of the car being used at another event held at the track.  A thread of this event will be posted in the future.

It looks like they took the "OFFICIAL PACE CAR" section of the original Z11 decal and moved it lower on the door and then added the red logo of the track above it.  Compare it to a vintage bumper sticker from the track (worthpoint).

These images show that there was a "Miss Camaro" in victory lane after the race.

Someone even drove their personal 1969 Camaro RS/SS Z11 convertible to the event.  Notice that it has the door decals attached and the top is down.  You can see it in the parking lot in the front row just above the passenger side roof of the Penske Camaro of Ed Leslie.
