It's a long long story... Guy orders a SS RS 396 Camaro, L34, M21, 373's while in Vietnam. Father in law works at the dealership. He gets back from Vietnam, picks up his Car but had odd looking Rally Wheels on it.

I don't think I've ever seen a center cap like that..   Is the center cap the only 'weird' part? OR are there other unusual aspects of the wheel rims themselves?   or the rings?

The rims are XT's, correctly dated for the car but paint silver and not body color like a non Rally wheel car would have. The center cap is a Rally wheel center cap center section bolted to a dog dish hubcap. Correct 4 clip trim rings. Rally Wheels listed on the window sticker. All 5 rims dated the same. Early car.

What does the inside of the poverty cap look like. It looks like someone took a rally wheel center cap apart and bollted it to the poverty cap.

Yes it is obviously a rally wheel center screwed to a poverty cap but it came that way new according to the orig owner. Asking here for examples of Rally wheel SS cars built in the same time frame to see if there was a problem sourcing 14x7 Rally's at that time.

Car has 25000 miles on it, orig. unrestored. Kurt has known the car as Steve Shauger owned it years ago.

Never seen any wheel caps like that before.

Dealers sometimes would do about ANYTHING to sell a car.

I would leave AS IS, or put aftermarket wheels on it and keep “originals” for future owner.

My understanding is his father in law worked at the dealership and that was how it came. If it had shipped without Rally's how do you explain the correct dated XT wheels and no body color paint on them. They are all orig. paint. All 5 XT's are dated the same and the spare is also not body color. There are mags on the car now that I'm keeping on it. They were put on by orig. owner and came with the car so I put them back on. I'll keep a weird cap in the trunk so I can debate with people :-)

Earliest YJ’s I have owned are 10/19/68.  Not sure if there is anything earlier than that but I’d guess there is though.
