I just shipped 200 1/18 scale diecast model cars from Texas to North Carolina.  Best price I found was through R&L Carriers.

Try Greyhound but that will need to be crated and not sure they take stuff that big. Fastenal stores also ship.

But you need to call and ask both first.

Contact Fastenal Logistics and get a quote. They have a palleting requirement, hopefully the 12 bolt fits within the max size (unless they've changed). They're about the best bulk freight shippers around in terms of cost and convenience - they go store to store only (there's a blue jillion of them across the country); you deliver to the closest store to you, and they'll deliver to the store closest to your purchaser. Otherwise, you'll have to pick and choose from the LTL shippers.

Steve

You can pickup used pallets for free in NC at most businesses that receive freight. A long one might be harder to find but you could make one out of 2 standard pallets. If you can,t find any PM me if you are near Durham I probably have some.

Thanks Kelley, I live in Portland, the seller lives in Gastonia, NC. I'm trying to ship to Portland, Oregon. I have not got quotes yet but someone told me 400 to 500 for shipping. Vince

I think those numbers might work once someone gets it on a pallet and either can load it or take it to a freight terminal.

Fastenal will not ship across zones East / West. OD wants over 900, Res. to Res. with lift gate. Terminal to terminal might be the way to go.

Have it shipped to a dock and go pick it up. I think that would be less than 900.

I would guess this unit is a good deal or correct for your needs or I would find one closer.

The price 1500.00 for rear end. shipping as much as 900. Good 12 bolts are getting harder to find. A guy in my area just sold a BV code for 3K and it sold quick.

There is one more alternative you might explore - several years ago I was looking for a transport service to bring my dad's '49 3100 back to TN from TX - I went through a brokerage I found advertised in Hemmings; they posted the particulars on a board that goes out to independent transporters, who wind up looking at schedules and bid on the contract to transport. I had tried to contact a few sources directly, could not get a decent quote or even a response until I decided to broker it. Took a couple of weeks, but well worth it - total charge was about $600.00. The carrier picked up the truck (not running, too !) at my dad's place in TX, brought it right to my driveway. Turns out the guy and his wife lived here in TN, they transport vehicles all over the country. A good friend of mine did the same with a big John Deere from PA to TN - even brought implements with him. There are a lot of carriers around that will do parts as well as vehicles -

Steve's suggestion is a good one.

I sold a set of ARE 5-spoke magnesium Trans Am wheels to Jeff Makovich 2 or 3 yrs ago, and he arranged someone to come by and pick them up for delivery to him in Ohio.  The fella who showed up to pick them up had a covered pick up bed 'full of parts', but he found room for the wheels..   I've no idea who he was, or what Jeff had to pay, but perhaps Jeff could help you with that?

I would contact Moser Engineering.  They will build a rear end to your specs.  I had them build me one for Camaro project I was doing about 15 years ago.  They were very reasonable then.  I would contact them for a quote.

Try U-ship, truck haulers bid on the transport.  You put in the pick up to drop location, date/time, description, open or closed trailer.  Haulers want to fill their truck, don't want to haul empty. I've used for a car, motorcycle and yes a 12 bolt rear too.  You can also read the haulers reviews

I have recently used (and very happy) with Quick Time Performance out of Iowa. They build me a custom 9" housing including forged axles, and shipped it to me for less than 1K. They can also build you a very nice, and strong 12 bolt for around the same amount (or less).
