What's your application? Occasionally a spirited ride, but want to hide it. Or grabbing gears at 7800?

"Stock" points are going to bounce around 5500. Which should keep you in check, back out of it.

I ran a Mallory rev limiter tac,,good.
MSD 2step modules in the gasser, better.

Can't speak on some of the point eliminator kits out there with rev limiters.

That's actually not so outlandish.   For the 1990 World Record 24 hr speed record, The C4-ZR-1 team put a 2x4 under the accelerator so the drivers would not be tempted to overrev the engine and possibly end their record run before they got it...  :)     Read about it here..

You can add an ignition box (remotely) that will trigger with points and has a rev limiter built in.  The one I use is obsolete but there are others out there. I think FAST bought them out and sells them now.  The upside is the points will last a LOT longer as they are only carrying a small primary current.  They are just used as a trigger this way so no pitting or wear at the contacts. Dwell is no longer an issue either.  Dwell setting makes no difference. I switched out the points for a magnetic trigger distributor conversion later and it works a bit better that way.  Points will get you done though.  Have mine mounted under where the front dash speaker used to be.

This distributor magnetic conversion kit I am using now is obsolete too.  Use to be part of Hays Clutch people decades ago before they broke the company apart.  The Hays guy went on to start Centerforce Clutch company while the ignition side of the business was wiped out by MSD products.

Last thing - AVOID Ebay for this.  Many offshore ignition box copies out there.  Stay with Summit/Jegs or someone you can trust.

I didn't think that a 1969 Z28 single point distributor with stock components would rev much higher than 6500 rpm.  I had asked earlier about how high would a stock 1968 Z28 distributor rev as I believe it was transistorized and knew that my friend would shift his 1968 Z28 over 7000 rpm and thought it still had its original distributor.
