Here are a few articles and photos with captions featuring 1967 Camaro RS/SS convertible Indy 500 pace cars.  These appeared in newspapers across the country leading up to and following the 1967 Indianapolis 500.

I found most of these items at newspapers.com but I will identify the other digital newspaper repositories where applicable.   To identify the particular newspaper, publishing date and location simply consult the file name under the image.

Notice the non SS convertible in the third picture.

Also notice how the fourth picture shows a regular base coupe with what looks to be a black nose stripe, a vinyl top and the pace car stickers on the door.

Notice the different font on the words "Chevrolet Camaro" in the third and fourth images.

Interesting articles, Scott.  Of particular interest was the one discussing the alternative car given to AJ Foyt when he refused the pace car awarded to him for winning the Indy 500.  Thanks for posting.

Regarding Foyt's position, it is very unfortunate and disrespectful to a race sponsor or tradition. As a fan I'd expect a winner to be gracious and accepting as the public is viewing. What he/she does after that is different. Unfortunately it still continues, as with Fittipaldi. He did something similar with the milk when he won. There are other instances in other racing leagues and sports And I know the drivers/team members/owners feel the need to support their personal sponsors. It would just be nice if they didn't look so bad making those statements in public. After all, they may be sponsored by that same company later.
