non-tilt steering column 69 date code vs 73 date code

does anyone know the difference between the 69 and 73 non-tilt column.
any physical traits.
date code orders.
I believe for 1969 date stamp sequence is: 8 A 361, meaning 1968, first shift, December 27
I located one and can't tell if it's an 8 or 3 stamped .
any other ways of being sure what year it is.

I remember the different Lock pointers for the ignition key area.  Can't find any pics though :(

I thought I heard there was more positions in the newer ones. Say 5 positions in a 69, 6 in 70+.

I removed my original non-tilt, floor shift steering column to install a tilt column.  Attached are a couple of photos of every number I could find on it...  This is from a late '69 Z28 (09C).

Right, the 69 non-tilt has the work LOCK horizontally and a pointer to the lock position.  Just need to see what a 73 version looks like :)

The lock word is the same as 69 :(  but I do see that in 69 the reverse lockout arm has an angle (last pic above), but the 70-75 one the arm is straight!  So that is a difference!

A few years ago I bought a tilt wheel from a co named GM Tilt at that time. After finding the wiring harness was 100% backward, I called him and he said he got most of the columns from other 70,s  GM cars like the Olds Omega, Pontiac Ventura, ect. Maybe the camaro linkage straightened but the nova platform did not. After I reversed the wiring plug it worked fine.

Possibly the '70-73 column is a 'bit' longer than the '69 ???   I can easily measure my '69 column tube length if someone has a '70 or later...?

Boys,
Were the steering boxes in a different location between a '69 and the 1970 and up models? IF I remember, one had a rear steer, and the other was a front steer? IF so, it would indicate (to me) the column would be a different length?
