1969 z28 emblem question
« on: February 12, 2021, 04:52:46 PM »
Hello fellow Camaro nuts. Trying to solve the correct emblem color for tailpan and grill emblems for 1969 Z28. I know the inside of the Z is red.  What is the painted portion of the 28. Is it white or silver? Was there a mid year change in color? I have seen several supposedly numbers correct cars and unrestored cars and both colors observed.

I have this NOS emblem I bought in the early 70's from the dealer, never been on a car,  the numbers look silver to me, was this

emblem used in all four locations on the car ? I have also shown the back with the part number for reference. Was this an emblem

from '69 production, or something that was re popped later for parts stock ?

Thanks for the help. The fender emblems were red with silver like the one you posted.

Finger nail polish works great, even comes with brush.

I just interrupted my breakfast cereal to go down and check my original front emblem...  NO PN embossed/cast in on the rear of it.  I may have an NOS one I purchased in the mid-70's also, but that's stored away somewhere...?

In earlier posts 3949681 and 3949682 are listed for the fender emblems. What is the part number for the rear emblem?
Thanks, Doc.

Lloyd,
That is a GREAT photo, crop it slightly and you could use it as your RS/Z28 avatar...
Although not technically correct the backing plate on the Z28 emblem being on an angle in my opinion looks better to the eye.

As Lloyd can attest to - it was in that position when he got the car in what 2011? it was in the same when I saw it in the garage out in the middle of nowhere Anderson SC back in 2006. I never removed anything other than rattle can paint off the inner fenders rad support and cowl -God that was/is currently such a nice car, I dreamt I was driving it at a cars and coffee in the last month, lol. That would be nice, however I do not beleive there is a price at which it could be purchased, last I spoke to him he told me his wife and children would be the only ones worrying with that... he cherished it more than Ferraris in his collection.

You have me taking a double look as when I looked at Lloyd’s excellent pic the numbers looked white.
