Marina blue versus Lemans Blue
« on: April 04, 2007, 04:21:20 AM »
Someone tried to tell me that 1967 Marina Blue on a Chevelle is the same as Lemans Blue on a 1968 Camaro.  I don't think so, but what is the truth?  Does anyone know?  They are close, but I don't think they are the same.

They aren't the same.  It will be hard to tell until you park them side by side.

OK, thanks everyone for the information.  My dad had a Lemans Blue 1968 Z28 with white stripes back in 1970 that my aunt drove me to kindergarten in. Wow, wish we had that car back.  We have been looking for it for the last 25 years.

LeMans blue is #71. Not sure about Marina Blue.

Whops. Grabbed wrong year. Here is '67 sheet. Shrink the windows and put them side by side. They are pretty close.

Marina Blue is a 1967 color and Lemans Blue is a 1968 color.  Yes they are pretty close, but I don't think they are the same.  Anyone have an idea as to how I could track down my dad's old car.  It was a 1968 Z28, Lemans Blue with white stripes.  Pretty much Plane Jane other than that.  Standard black interior, no console or spoilers. Not many options either from what my dad says. Pretty sure it had the 4.10 rearend and M20, because it came off the line like a rocket. Car must have been race prepped because the Chevrolet dealership did compression testing on it and it had more compression than what the book said it should have.  But the pistons were so loose that in the winter you could hear the pistons slapping from a block away, or at least that is one of the mechanics that lived a block away said. The car came out of the Chicago area.  We are afraid we will never find it and that is was wrapped around a tree.  This was the 2nd fastest car my dad owned. The fastest was a Chevelle with a 468 big block and had a lot of work done on it, balancing, etc. plus aluminum L88 heads and a huge cam. He said he shifted it a 8,000.

Start first with your state's DMV...
Take a look at this thread:

And while you are at it:
