Trim Tag

Does this tag look original? The car has drum brakes up front and a 10 bolt rear. Vince

How well does the build date align with vin?
Is there evidence of that paint color (maroon)
Looks like black touch up paint around perimeter of tag? Rivet holes look tampered.

Take a look at the backside of the tag. You MAY need an inspection camera to see. At least some SS 350 cars in 1969 with PG transmission did have 10 bolt axles. What is the axle code? What is the VIN

Check over things in this table for more clues.

Obviously the car would've originally had PDB if it was truly an X55 car. That could've been changed over the years, though. If you go look at it, verify the hidden VINs, then talk him down to less than half of what he's asking for it unless there is more of the car there than just what is shown in the pictures.

Looks like it has the muncie firewall piercing for speedo cable and 4 speed crossmember.  Check the rear side of the upper a-arm to see if it has the brake hose clip hole for disc brakes.

There is no “4 speed crossmember”. Read this.
http://www.camaros.org/trans.shtml#Crossmembers

That MIGHT be a Muncie hole in the firewall. Can't say for sure, that is not a good pic and might not be original.

Front brakes or even whole subframe could have been swapped out.

VIN - and checking partial VINs - will tell us if tag goes on that car.

That looks like wet moisture that is dripping around trim tag to me, not black paint.
Anybody else see it that way?

Update on this car, fuel line and return line are there, Vin N685965 hidden VINs match on a 09C. Rear springs look like 4 leaf, power steering pump, Power brake booster with master cylinder. The motor and trans is not original. Most all parts to put it back together are there. Vince
