Early N66 SS rim car with original jacking instructions
« on: October 24, 2020, 06:47:03 PM »
I am looking for a picture of the jacking instructions on a early 1969 Camaro SS with the N66 “SS wheel” option. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been looking for a photo of that animal for quite some time...

Have you found the correct IRWIN 200-5 screw driver yet??

Screwdriver is the same as a 67 Corvette with N89 Bolt-on's.
The Chevelle's would have had the screw driver as well.

The Irwin Screwdriver is the next on my list. Do you have a extra one to sell?

I heard those screw drivers go for some crazy money if you can find them.

All the center caps I ever had used hex bolts to hold the retainer on the back side...Joe

How about the ones with no fasteners ? Cast number 3983324, assembly number 3983323 -

I can see why they were obviously superseded -

There was a July 5, 2005 post in camaros.net by 'HawkX66' that might interest you: https://www.camaros.net/threads/ya-coded-n66-ss-style-wheels.469621/

In that post, it was said: "I'm going to have to read up a little closer on these wheels I think. This was posted by William over on CRG:
"RPO N66 "Sports Wheels for Camaro SS" were a short-lived option, dropped at the end of calendar year 1968. Chevy records indicate 314 cars were built with them. A few months ago Kurt located a window sticker from one of them, the first I've seen."

By "Kurt," I wonder if they meant KurtS from camaros.org?  If so, maybe KurtS can post the photo of the original Instruction Sheet #3984091 for a 1969 coupe with N66 SS wheels?  Kurt, if you also have a photo of Instruction Sheet #3984092 for a 1969 convertible with N66 SS wheels, could you post that one as well?

Are these jacking instructions legit? Seems there would be a mention of the screw driver?

My question too Paul.

Per the AIM (revision of 7-16-69) that's the correct part number (3984091 - coupe and 3984092 - convertible), but the N66 wheels were discontinued January 8th, 1969 so why would Chevrolet need a N66 jacking sticker dated August of 1969? I would imagine a "correct" sticker (original P/N's 3949660 - coupe and 3949679 - convertible) would be dated mid 1968 AND mention the 3760276 screw driver.

And by the way, I'm still not convinced the Camaro used the Irwin 200-5 screw driver. The part number (3760276) is different than the Corvette so it may have been a different screw driver altogether; not even an Irwin!
