68 Convertible "with metal"
« on: August 12, 2020, 02:02:08 AM »
I thought this was on the high side of illegal - never seen one quite this blatant.

About to expire - I might have complained if I had seen it earlier. Gross -

You guys need to make sure to include the VIN when you post things like this. That way we can search in the future should it come up on another car.

VIN - 124678N367687

And it's been RELISTED.

Report it again folks.

And if you look at his other auctions, he also has 124378L308147 TITLE for sale (see below). I guess ebay doesn't care. Wait. I KNOW ebay doesn't care as long as they get their piece of the pie. If I got stuck with one of these Frankenstein cars, I'd be suing EBAY since they have deep pockets.

We're not a Pontiac site, but he also has a Firebird TITLE, VIN AND TRIM TAG for sale - 223377U149472

Even the hidden VIN's!! For historical and collecting purposes my ass.

Ed, were not perfect here. Responding in your tone is condescending. If you saw it was relisted did you happen to notify Ebay yourself? Who are you to direct other hobbiest to report it anyways. I consider myself a hobbiest/purest and appreciate this forum. But responding in that manner is unacceptable. My opinion. Take it for what its worth. Thank you for identifying the other parts of his auctions.

Responding in your tone is condescending.

Of course I reported it. I ALWAYS report these but they NEVER get removed. Ebay just doesn't care.

And if you don't like my posts, don't read them. I'm not here to make friends and influence people. I'm here to try and help some poor slob that might get ripped off in the future. Auctioning Titles and VIN tags are against ebay policy. I invite people, ANY people to report them.

I see nothing offensive in Ed's first response. Pretty factual and states why. Sorry it was interpreted that way...

Kurt, my message was formed after reading several of Ed's post. Not just this one. I do give him great credit providing information and sharing his knowledge. But there comes a point that after reading several of his post that there is a lack of respect for other members of CRG. We all have a great deal of information to share with our cars. Some more than others. I for one wont claim to be an expert. But I do have great knowledge of Camaro's that I have owned and would share that information. After reading your forum rules, I felt the need to speak out. You are correct that interpretation of reading words can be misconstrued. Being less abrasive would be what I would call it. Thanks for providing such a wonderful avenue for us to participate in. It is invaluable.

I'll second that motion - I was not offended in the slightest by Ed's comments. I should have reported it when I spotted it, at the time it had less than 22 minutes to go in the auction. Had I realized the depth of what Ed researched, I would have sent that complaint in.

I'll say this and quit myself - interpretations vary person to person. Ed is a great resource, I always look forward to his opinions. I used to think I had a lot of knowledge about my favorite hobby, but he's high among the many that leave me in the dust (often !). I'll learn till I die -

You have been a forum member a long time, you must realize that Ed is an actual CRG member, not just a forum member like you and I. He is the guy who puts this stuff in the data base that only CRG members have access to. By putting the VIN's and other identifying numbers in the forum it becomes searchable to anyone. He was just reminding everyone, for their own benefit. not sure why you took it so personal.

It IS illegal. Titles/VINS not attached to a vehicle, and sold separately is a felony. The Federal statue (I will paraphrase) on this: "Any alteration, removal, selling, and or re-attachment of a VIN is a crime. And is considered a felony"
And (for me) I did not consider Ed's comment offensive.

Well he is at it again. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-Chevrolet-Camaro-Convertible-V8-Historical-Paperwork-with-Metal/324352569250?hash=item4b84eb6fa2:g:4k8AAOSwP8NfDlgi

I have included Ebays posted policy below which clearly states its not allowed. I will file a complaint and remind them of their policy...… Any help appreciated.

What is the policy?

The following or similar items are not allowed:
•Government, private transit, or shipping company uniforms and accessories such as hats, pins and scarves  ◦Vintage or collectible uniforms and accessories may be listed if they meet all these requirements:
•The item is 10 years old or older
•It's no longer in use
•It doesn't look like a current uniform or accessory

•Government, transit or shipping company property such as vehicles, license plates, keys for vehicles, mail bags, company decals and transit documents
•Fake documents, government-issued documents or official certificates or diplomas
•Postage meters, voting machines or Library of Congress National Library of Service record players, digital talking book machines or any of their labeled accessories
•Government-issued IDs, passports, birth certificates or license plates ◦Collectible license plates are allowed as long as they are expired and at least 3 years old or as allowed by law

•Government-issued medals and certificates for medals
•Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) plates or rivets

Activity that doesn't follow eBay policy could result in a range of actions including for example: administratively ending or canceling listings, hiding or demoting all listings from search results, lowering seller rating, buying or selling restrictions, and account suspension. All fees paid or payable in relation to listings or accounts on which we take any action will not be refunded or otherwise credited to your account.

There is nothing condescending about anything Ed posts.  He contributes more to this hobby than you understand  with his knowledge.  Grow a thicker skin.

Let’s see, founding members that provide volumes of information, thousands of posts, freely, and contribute immensely to the hobby, making statements meant to alarm, take notice and call to action, like a stop sign or yield sign, are condescending and rude? What a thin skinned, 1st class, jack wagon. Pretty much why most of us ‘experts’ don’t chime in anymore. It’s unappreciated and facts are a source of dispute and contention. It’s really sad that after almost 4000 posts, someone sees a call to action from leadership as offensive. I’m offended by this member’s treatment and attack on Ed. You, fella, are the only nerve touched by me, if you are “touching nerves”? Have some dignity and respect and apologize to Ed and this forum’s members.
