Man, I gotta clean these up a bit. I thought I looked them over pretty carefully, but old eyes can fool you. Sorry I missed the obvious !

Thanks,

Tim and Lloyd,
Triangle/P on the same bracket with the GM part number stamp as well ? What area does it appear in ?
Steve
Yes, mine has both GM part number and 'P' stamp, and as Joe said, on opposite sides of the bracket (also just like Lloyd's). You can make out the 'P' stamp in Lloyd's first picture, bottom right corner, around the 3-3/8" mark on the ruler on top.

Same here. I resisted as long as I could, cringe every time I have to step up the magnification on my El Cheapo OTC readers. I'm gonna wear them in a minute to look for the triangles on the two in the garage -

Lloyd - thanks, I know where to concentrate my excavating. What process are you using to prepare this - vapor blast ? Really superior -

Regards,
Steve

Steve, what you see in the photo is the result of dry media blasting only using fine glass bead at 80PSI. The fine bead produces a near-polished surface which sets up well for paint. Following media blasting I'll sand the piece with 400 grit paper to "knock down" the surface then mask off the GM part number and manufacturers stamp before a thorough wipe down with prep sol followed by a light coat of epoxy primer.

Here's the finished product. I had previously restored an NOS bracket for my project only to discover the part number had been superseded (so that won't do) and the finish I applied was 30% gloss and I now believe it should be in the 60-80% range (or full gloss by 1969 standards).
