Thanks. I did see the decoding chart but I have a 1967 camaro with a "37" trim tag and it is a very nice clean convertible that has not been cut or altered. It looks like the original cowl tag. I also visited another site that indicated that "37" could represent a coupe or covertible.  Is the only explanation that someone changed the trim tag???????????   Any help is much appreciated. I am new to this and so not very knowledgable (not yet)

Thanks again for the reply.

Mike -

Could you post some good photos of your trim plate here?  There are many experts on this forum who could tell you if the trim plate has been replaced or not after looking at it.  They just need good quality, in-focus photos to do so.

...note there is a difference with the 'ST' numbers on the COWL/TRIM tag vs. the VIN tag......

thanks,  my trim tag is as follows:

O3G

ST   67-12437  NOR  92058

TR   756-H           C-2   PAINT

W   2R   3L

5Y

I did'nt understand how I have a convertible when 67-12437 inicates a hardtop and not a convertible.

Any info would be appreciated.

Mike, it could be a mistake. Although rare, Trim Tags have been known to have incorrect information on them.

Another possibility is that the tag could have been changed. What's your VIN? If we compare the 03C (?) build date on the tag (recheck your number. you have 03G. That would indicate the 7th week of March and that's not possible!), to the known assembly dates of the VIN's, we can see if it lines up.

A final possibility is that you have a reproduction tag. Post a picture and we can look at that as well.

Thanks again for all the response-speaks highly of this board.

Its not a production error, the tag indicates the car has a bench seat, which was not available in a convertible.  so the tag has either been swapped, its a fake, or someone made a convertible out of a coupe (that would be really bad).  Can we assume the VIN starts with 12467 (or 12367) so we can rule out the coupe to convertible conversion?
