TH400 Transmission Harness Clip
« on: January 10, 2020, 08:02:50 PM »
I need to know the correct finish of the transmission kick down harness clip that attaches the harness to block. It is shown as item 5 in UPC M40 A8. Wikiparts lists it with a latex finish (which I'm assuming to be rubber) yet all of the repro companies list it as natural steel.

If anyone has an original clip installed on their car and could have a quick look at it for me I'd appreciate it!

BTW...this is for a '68 L35/M40 car.

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Bob,

I check my 67 AIM and see it is the same. I'll check my 67 L35 to see if it is coated or not.
I'll get back to you in a couple of hours today.

Hi Bob,

This was sure a tough item to take a picture of. The throttle bracket played havoc with the auto-focus.
Attached are two photos of the clip after the grease was removed (04B LOS).
The clip definitely has a black covering and the wires are in the same type of tubing as the water temp sending unit wire (well...for 67 anyways) . I attached a photo showing a closeup (sorry it is not clearer) of the thick drip from the dipping process. The coating feels hard but that is to be expected after 52 years, I guess.

Hope this helps!

Perfect Mike! Exactly what I was after!

I’ll purchase the uncoated clip from HBC and dip it in some Plastidip.

Many thanks for all you effort!

1968 LOS 12D L35/TH400
including ref photos of Oil wire clip on back of Head and Kickdown clip on Trans.

Thanks very much Jim. The oil line clip was another one of those “need to figure out” items so the timing was perfect. BTW...that funky clip on the tranny took me forever to find. Not being reproduced and extremely difficult to find.

Great pics! Thanks again!

While looking at the clip I was reminded the valve cover gaskets are silver when I had looked at them. So, don't forget the silver coated valve cover gaskets!
