I think he wants to know if the hood insulation retainer clips are the same for all 67-69 Camaros or did they change from year to year...Joe

There are photos of originals (for the '69 MY at least) versus service replacement and reproduction clips in this thread:

Yes and thanks Niblet. I run into a guy that had metal square retainers and swore they were orig.
Had me questioning mine. The post above was a big help as the round with holes in the posts are what is still in place on this car. Verified my original thoughts.

And a related question would be ...  Is there a part number on this retainer on Troberts car?  He'd have to remove one of them to inspect the hidden surface for the part number.  He told me his car has 20 of them used to hold the insulation in place...

Does not appear to be a style that was generally found on the 1st gen hood insulation, all of us and all the cars we  have seen. I don't recognize them, certainly cars get serviced, painted or modified and aftermarket retainers 'could' have been sourced during the life of this particular car. Could be a Ford, AMC product or Mopar or aftermarket  decades old Au-Ve-Co, Dorman etc. They look sturdy and w/ steel construction. A internet image search really did not turn this style as a return. Not saying they have not been on this car as a recent add (*Looks Old) but while they look familiar, just not what has generally been accepted as original or stock restoration parts.

The 1968 AIM list the retainer under the L48 section A4, Part item 9 PN 3909199. The graphic drawing show a circle style

This is two that we have now seen with the square metal retainer. Both claimed to be original. So this raises my curiosity even more. Hope we can get some more helpful input.

Yes two. As I said at start I saw one at Springfield that had the square metal. They were on a 68 and said to be original.

The P&A's show the square metal retainers (P/N 3934260 as shown below) were used on 65-69 Corvairs, mid 60's to early 70's full size cars and Chevelles, and early 70's Camaros. I've never seen them used on any 67-69 Camaro, but these, like bolts, are what you might call generic types of fasteners, so it wouldn't surprise me to see them being used since GM had various suppliers for these types of parts. Not the norm, but never say never, right?

According to the P&A's, the Corvair retainer went through several changes. It started out as 9775412 (1965 only), then went to 389809 (1965-1966), then 3897534 (1965-1968) and finally to 3934260 (1968-1969).

It's also known that the 3934260 retainer went though a design change from metal to plastic, but it's unknown exactly when. Early 70's Camaros have been observed with metal retainers while later Camaros have been observed with plastic. It also shows up in the later P&A's as "plastic".

However, for 67-69 Camaros, the round plastic retainer (3909199) is the one that's generally accepted as being "assembly line correct". But if you look in the 67 AIM (UPC 11-13, Sheet B4, Item 3, Note 4), it was changed from 3907534 (the 65-68 Corvair retainer) on 5-15-66. Was this a metal retainer or a plastic retainer? And did they ever make it into any 67 Camaro?

Again, retainers were supplied by multiple vendors, so after all these years, who knows!

Given this info, IF they were ever used on any first gen, it seems LOS/VN cars would be more likely candidates than Norwood, since they had full size models running on the same line.

As Mr. Spock would say, this sounds like a logical conclusion.
