1968 SS Trunk Lid Badge with Spoiler??
« on: October 18, 2019, 03:24:01 AM »
Is there a badge on a 1968 SS trunk lid when it has a spoiler?

My understanding is that for all factory installed rear spoilers, the trunk lid emblem was relocated forward; if the spoiler was dealer-installed, they often didn't relocate the emblem and just left it off.
This is based on the CRG article on Z/28 trunk striping (http://www.camaros.org/exterior.shtml#Z28Stripes) but would assume the emblem relocation detail would apply to all Camaros with a spoiler.

Thanks, I'm restoring the car assuming the spoiler came from the factory. Do you happen to know the specific distance from the trunk lid edges to the emblem?

There's a dimension referenced in that link I posted. I haven't measured mine to see if that's the same, but then again it's a LOS-built '69.

I am the guy that sent the picture of the 396 badging location from your last post , I just wanted you to know that most Camaro parts suppliers to have stencil kits available that show the correct factory placement of all emblems on the kit that you specify, I ordered one and drilled holes prior to paint and it makes placing them pretty seamless!

We are familiar with the templates, but I think my restoration guy is very apprehensive about using them as he did with the 396 badge and they ended up being wrong (I understand it might not have been the template's issue).
