Clay models - early development
« on: March 05, 2019, 05:02:27 AM »
As mentioned in the Early Designs thread, clay models were an important part of the initial designs.

Here are two more clay models. Neither one made it into actual production.

Picture 1 is a from 1965, a Camaro Nomad.

Picture 2 is from July 14, 1966 - on the left is a Camaro 2 Seater.  Clay models could only stay outside a short time in the Detroit summer heat. Notice the regular Camaro, possibly a pilot car, in the right side of the image.

'clay model' terminology is accurate; concept cars they were not...  :)

The Camaro 'Nomad' clay is wild! Too bad it did not make production.
As for the two seat version, its proportions are off, and glad it did not make production.
Just another T/A fanatic. Current lifelong projects:

1969 Mustang Fastback w a Can-Am 494 (Boss 429)

Here's some more clay pics, apparently farther along the design process.
They cover the clay with mylar to replicate the paint and glass finish, btw.
