bypass hose fitting painted ? -1967 350

Is the fitting in the below picture supposed to be painted with the engine or left as shown? 1967 SS350


Note: this is not my engine. it's a reference photo I found on the web

I would be interested to know the answer to this request as well, as I'm putting together a 1968 350 motor for my Camaro and was wondering the same thing on this fitting. Thanks

Although not a 350 engine, judging by the photo below it looked like it was not painted.  I have seen many of them painted orange but that was years after the cars were sold new.

If you look in your 67 AIM under UPC 1 Sheet A8 you'll find those nipples were installed at the assembly plant, not the engine plant.  And I don't see anything under UPC L48 that would over ride this from the base V8.  As the picture above shows, this was installed at the engine dress line at the assembly plant. I can't imagine any were originally painted orange.
