How do you access the top of the shock so it can be removed? Thanks.

Both the passenger side and the driver side are accessed inside the trunk.

Yeah, but you can't see the top of the shock on the passenger side from inside the trunk, you can see the driver's side but not the passenger side, so I assume something has to be moved out of the way to get to it. I figured it has something to do with some metal frame being in the way but I don't know for sure. The only way I can see getting to it is by maybe taking the back seat out, but I haven't went that far yet. Thanks.

Oh, it's a MAJOR pain alright, but there's an access hole (see below) that you can get your tools through to loosen the nuts. You have to pull everything out of the trunk to do it, but it can be done!

Does a '69 use the diamond shape upper plate that then bolts to the body, like a '67?

If you're referring to this (see below), then yes, all three years use it.

That's the one. To the OP, removing this may be easier to release the upper shock from the body.

Unlike some convertibles, (from what I've been told), my car also has a speaker mounted behind the passenger rear seat, so after taking another look at it, I think the speaker will also need to be removed to access the opening for the shock. Either way, I'm sure it's gonna be a lot of fun swapping it out!! Thanks.
