Windshield trim clips
« on: January 16, 2019, 02:18:08 PM »
When I removed the door sill trim to see how the speaker wire was run (shown in THIS THREAD), I found a few of these windshield trim clips in the wire gutter channel by the kick panel.
I figured post it here as a FYI.

Mike, I split this post from the other because it's a GREAT picture of a different subject. After 50 years they're still in perfect condition!! You don't see that very often!

Put them up on ebay for $1000 bucks each!!

 Thanks, Ed.

Info associated with the windshield clip is it was found in a 67 04B LOS coupe.
I figured I would mention that in case the color or design changed in other periods.

Good job Ed! I do not have my parts book or aim with me but we should add the part # to this thread for future searches.

Would like to see a photo of a '69 clip, if anyone has one. Is the yellow being described for '69 a yellow zinc, or a yellow paint? Was there any change during '67-'69 to include teeth on the depth adjustment ramp, or are the current reproductions that include teeth not correct in that detail?

1969 - my Z. Clips are still on the car, looks like painted surface to me. I'll see if any are loose enough to remove without breaking one (50 year old clips !) and get a couple of pics.

Steve

Front and back yellow clips - never removed from the car as far as I can tell (owned since March '73). Factory sealant is still in place across the bottom of both clips, not disturbed, and I'm not inclined to disturb it soon. Top pick is the windshield, second is the rear (pics are turned 90 degrees, both clips are on the top molding on both windows). Car had the original paint on it when I bought it, I repainted with acrylic enamel in '75 when I added the ZL2 hood. I removed the molding, but not the clips during the respray.

No teeth visible on the slide area (where the pin locks into place).

Regards,
Steve

Good idea for a side view. The side view looks the same as the one I have.
I'm speculating different vendors used different colors?
