Need Big Block Radiator
« on: January 05, 2019, 04:00:09 AM »
Hello Members,

I just found out the side tank needed to build the Harrison radiator I need is unavailable. I was in the process of ordering a Harrison four core, auto trans radiator for my '67 big block car. The reason I was opting for the four row core is the differential is a 3.73 and the 400 trans has an ever so mild stall converter in it. It's the mildest street converter TCI makes.

Even though my car came with a three row core, I didn't want to end up with cooling problems and I definitely don't want to add an auxiliary trans cooler. I just felt with the drivetrain I had, a three row radiator may not be up to the task.

Does anyone have any suggestions beyond settling for a reproduction radiator?

Thanks everyone,
Buzz

It’s going to be tough to find an original.

The one in my son’s 67 L35 was replaced with a repro in the late 90s.

Hi Bryon!

How well did the repro work out as far as fit and function? Who was the supplier?

Thanks,
Buzz

Fits perfect. Not sure on the supplier but it looks good.  I can look at it closer the next time I am there. It’s in winter storage now.

Wonder if your son has one of the Harrison type repro's? I had communicated to Buzz to check with Glen-Ray Radiators to see if they had any suggestions. 800.537.3775 or 715.842.3352 Owner is Bob Schirmer

Hi Buzz, I just checked Heartbeat city and they have a 4 core for a 67-68 auto Harrison Rad. EGP-1582 1200.00  I buy a lot of things from them and for the most part they are very good. Take a look . Emo

Chick, yes I think it is an older Harrison type repro.

Chevrolet must have realized there were cooling issues as after April 1969 L78's got 4 core radiators when 3.73 or deeper axle ratio was ordered.

The curved neck wasn't used in 67 on the TH400 L35's.

I don't see the dimple in the middle of the top rail that came on original cores.

I agree with mike s. it  doesn't appear to be a camaro radiator. or not a known right tank code

I have the same pictured radiator that is in the listing in my stash of parts. His listing says  Left end tank code is "IL" and right end tank code is "UZ"  But pictured is ON tank like I have. Mine has a "M" date could this be a Firebird radiator??

Could be Nova or Firebird. I don’t know the tank codes for those cars.

I've only seen that tank combo in a 69 Firebird 400.
Not a Camaro part.
