WOW! That is home where the car was sold (Encino). And 40 years later it was found in Brentwood (over the hill from the Valley). Interesting….maybe I have seen this car driving around when I was a kid..hmmmm. Thanks for posting.

And it’s a cowl plenum car. :)

I have not checked if it’s a known car. Seems more like 108k on the speedo.

But I am told it is an original low mileage car.

Maybe wrecked and fenders replaced without replacing emblems ? Really nice car. Love the engine compartment.

Charlie I was questioning that as well... I was looking for signs of overspray on the hood hinges and bumpers... after looking at the rest of the car I thought something is ODD... then it dawned on me...
there are no trunk or header emblems either.
It was probably shaved of all emblems early in it's life.

If you read the comments on FB there is a lot more details.

The car was owned by a Car And Driver magazine photographer/contributor. He debadged it at some point and touched up the paint. The rest is supposedly original.

The current owner was a friend of the original owners family. Not sure how new this find is, there are plenty of pictures of it cleaned up and at car shows and it's always been known to be a rare car. It's also supposedly featured in a new book coming out about Camaro's

Boys,
A bit of history concerning the dealer Fletchers Chevrolet: They were on 16425 Ventura Blvd., Encino CA. Eventually the dealer changed ownership to Community Chevrolet. During the 1980s through the early 1990s, one of my best friends father was the service manager @ Community. In the mid-to late 1990s the dealer when out of business, and the property was sold and re-developed into a shopping mall as it is today.

I like it. Looks legitimate. But as a California native I must ask why the faux black vanity plates ?
Was it sold out of state before this?...said no when asked if both plates are present at DMV upon registration?
I love real black plates.

Know I like it and note where the alternator bracket fastens to the back side of the alternator. What I am confused on is the smog pipes. I thought original smog pipes hit the bottom of air cowl plenum air cleaners unless one used the 70 or 71 Nova right side smog pipe set-up.

Since it was debadged I would do like it looks like he is doing and leave it debadged. Really cool.

Yes, debadged by the original owner when fairly new.  Definitely should be left as it is.

The car will definitely be in Matt Avery's next Camaro book with Paul Lasiter's car, Chick's '68 Z, and others as I helped set that up.

I love the clean look; I've done that on a few cars.

Doesn't look like it had plates on it when pulled from the garage. That may be why it has new vanity plates.

Hard to say on the mileage. It looks like it could have had original redlines when pulled from the garage. So it could be an 8k car.

I'd like to comment and ask again, I thought the air cowl plenum would not work with the original smog tubes due to interference between the air cowl plenum and smog tubes coming off the exhaust manifold. Others have used the 70 or 71 Nova smog tubes that incorporated a different profile allowing fit-up. Is the 67 different then the 68? Again, great 67 Z/28!

Jerry M. told me that he helped a couple people out by doing that '70 Nova tube trick. Another trick I will be using on the BY '68 Z SOME day, is to install a double valve on the original tube. Cut/plug/cap the back side nipple, and cut front and install the hose on that nipple. Hoping it has enough of an offset to clear a Cowl Plenum. I don't remember if I thought of that or not :) ;) Probably not. If not I may try one of my Compression 45's with a short piece of copper in it. That will give close to a 90 degree offset for clearance. The double valve is hard to see under the Cowl Plenum set-up.
NOW if I could JUST find an original 16-3/4" lid I would be happy... Danny

As Danny reported Jon confirmed the difference is on the 67's as they utilized the "Y shaped Check Valve" where 68's utilized a straight up valve and could not be used with a air cowl plenum system which I was aware of due to our 68.
