Chrome Shift Ball 1969

I believe this to be an original. Anyone see anything to the contrary?
Was this shift ball used on any other car and any other year besides the ‘69 Camaro? I know a 5/16 pitch was used on 67-8. Only talking this exact part. Thanks.

I have a complete 70 Z/28 shifter assembly with body, rods, stick and ball.  It has the exact same ball that my 69 Z has on it.

Really? $100 bucks for an old beat up shifter handle that needs a TON of work???

While I'll admit, it's a better price than THIS ONE for $379, IMO, get a repop instead. Once it's installed you can't tell the difference and you'll save yourself a TON of money!

Well, considering there are dents and gouges in it, it would need to be turned, then rechromed. Turning it will reduce the original diameter so it won't be "original" anymore! Machining, then rechroming will add another $150 or so, probably more, so why bother to buy an original knob for $100, only to have to put more work and money into it, then lose points because it's not the correct diameter???

I am sure there are one or two of those in a drawer in the shop at the farm.

If it's stripped and rechromed, then the 'initial copper coating' would be the stage that it would be filled/polished so no turning (and it's corresponding reduction in diameter) should be necessary...

I'm not sure the copper coat would fill in those dings and divots. And this is just 4 of the several I see in the pictures!

Well here is an answer...

If it is GM part number 3955766 - then that part number was used for all manual shift (3 speed and 4 speed) for Camaros that had a console in 1969 and 1970. This should be 3/8 threads. I am not sure if it was used for other applications in other GM cars.

Not sure either if used in other applications but Bentley, what is the weight and is it metal (magnet likes) or non? I had one years ago that looked the part but was not a real GM piece.
