Engine painting video
« on: December 18, 2018, 06:05:21 AM »
A much discussed topic. Here is actual video of the engines being painted in the factory. Notice the water curtain to catch the overspray. And notice the third guy painting the one engine blue (or black) and the next one yellow.

Yeah. it's pretty boring up to around 9:18 when we specifically get into engineering the 1956 Chevrolet. And then 12:53 at the engine painting.

I agree but we know a lot more now then back 62 years ago. When I moved to Italy (company move) back in 2002 the paint booth utilized a water curtain very similar to what you see in the video and the painters wore no protection. While I was there we started a phase into water born paint and totally new paint booth per EU safety regulations.

when I was in the military back in the 80's we also used water curtains to some extent while painting aircraft. The cleanup was always a PITA!

In the 1950's my neighbor worked on nuclear bombs in the military, all they wore were rubber gloves.  Different times.

Wheezingly -

Reminded of it every time I get behind a semi on a long 5% downhill. That, and roasted clutches at the drags -
