81 camaro I saw
« on: August 25, 2018, 12:55:55 PM »
I hated to post this but since we have discussions on when rare isn't really worth much I thought this car might fit right into that. It's an 81 base Camaro with 18,000 miles on it and it is a nice Survivor. The only thing I could tell changed was it had a radio added. It never had a radio. This car had a V6 no air conditioning, it did have T-tops, a rear spoiler and beautiful black paint. The kicker was silver interior. I wasn't sure I really liked it but it was in pristine condition. The lady was trying to sell it and if it had air conditioning I might have been interested but I'm not sure if I could have stood looking at those seats!

Did it run well? With 18k mi it would be a good driver.

Other than a few little touch up spots that had been done with a Matchstick that car looked like it had just left the factory. I thought maybe one of the valve covers had been touched up but it still had the original radiator hoses and clamps on it.
I was just talking to my dad about it and was hoping he would say do not buy another car LOL

Are you sure that's an 81? I owned an 81 Z28 and the front looked nothing like the picture.

The sign in the window said 81.  I don't know if this is like a Berlinetta and maybe something in the front end was different. I thought it was a strange looking grill but I was used to seeing more like a Z28 with spoilers

I thought the valve cover looks like it may have been touched up but the rest of it look pretty Factory. Still had the original radiator hose and clamps the brake booster was mint. It said it never been driven in the snow

Looks like it has cruise control but oddly lacks A/C.. I always liked the silver interiors.
I own an 80 rs that I bought new as a teenager. It needs some body and interior work.

One way to tell it’s an ‘81 is lack of a covey hole in console below the radio. Starting in ‘81 the computer was installed in this space.

Hope they install an A/C.
