I have not seen the car in person, but I know it does have all original components down to the original YH rims and born with drive train.
Good to know but does "all original components" include the also very valuable distributor, Carb, alternator, etc.? If it has those original components that info should be shared in the advertisement.

You guys crack me up.  I mean, if I were interested in the car, I'd just pick up the phone.  It says in the add to contact him with any questions.  No need to type 5,000 words LOL    There is enough in that add, with pics, to peak anyone's interest that's looking for a real Z.

Well I did pick up the phone and talked to the dealer. (that was the only way to get the VIN). He thought it was all numbers matching (like all dealers), said he couldn't find the vin by the filter, which is hard to see. When I asked him about the body he was indy vague and beat around the bush. That was another reason i posted.

Good to hear Austin.  You also got a feel for the owner which helps with decision making.  I find the phone is the best way to answer specific questions above and beyond an add, and usually additional specific pics can be shared via email if needed, because not everyone is a photographer.   Either way one can only satisfy themselves so far before a look in person is needed to confirm everything.

Bob Is very reputable. He is a judge along with Jerry for the Camaro Nationals. He has been in the Camaro business since the 80’s. He knows his stuff, he is not a so called used car “dealer”. These cars are 50 years old, there will alway be some gray area. In my professional opinion, I think considering the car previous history, the original parts that are still on the car, and the way the car presents as a correct unrestored car in need of paint, I personally would not question any thing about this car.

With any car, if you are serious, do a personal on site inspection BEFORE purchase.  I don't care who the seller is.  That way you reduce the chance of any regrets.

Arms length only transaction is my advice here.  Ronald Reagan said it best....."Trust, but verify".

Message from Bob Harris

We have a real nice 69 Z28 for sale on Ebay. It is a nice original car that ismechanically 100% and just needs paint. I have had several questions regarding authenticity and thought I'd post our response.
" We don't have a Protectoplate or build sheet. I will write a letter of authenticity and appraisal guaranteeing that it is the original born with drive train and trim tag. I've been a senior judge for several National Events and Camaro Clubs for 35 years so I have some credibility in this game. Honestly, it has become very difficult to authenticate some of the reproduction Protectoplates and build sheets. They are doing a better job imitating them than they did faking Obama's birth certificate. Factory documentation for Chevy is only available on Canadian exported cars which makes them much more valuable in Camaro land.Having an experts evaluation like Jerry Macneish or complete ownership history helps too. Or some dealer modified cars such as the Yenko Camaros, kept track of the cars they modified and the VIN numbers are commonly known. Cars that have passed the scrutiny of professional judges at the Camaro national such as the American Camaro Association in Maryland will add significantly to the value of those cars as well. You are smart to cover your bases when investing in a collector car. The woods are full of devious individuals waiting to prey on the uninformed. Good luck and thanks for asking!" Bob Harris

😂🤣😆

I hope enough legit information is being passed along to a new generation of judges, who will understand the humor of the birth certificate. I fear many of the few experts left are long in the tooth, and guard the info or keep it so close to the chest, that much of the information will go to the grave with them.

If you counted Jerry and Steve S., how many other experts would the CRG community say are at that level? more than 6 in the U.S. ?

If you want to 'learn' (and or Judge), then you need to go to the National events and PARTICIPATE.  Jerry M, Steve, or Bob Harris did not become 'expert judges' overnight; they've been doing it for a long time, and seen/assessed a tremendous number of cars and documenting their observations via the judgesheets!

I've been to a few National Camaro shows in Carlisle and in Frederick, MD, primarily to learn about their judging process but I also learned a few additional things about the cars along with it.   I've met Bob Harris and talked to him; I had a positive impression of him and his knowledge;  he is knowledgable but without thinking/saying that he 'knows everything' (that's an important point with me because I know that NO ONE knows it all!).. :)  Of course if I was considering buying a car from him (or anyone), I'd talk in great detail with them, but also make sure I observed and would make my own determination!)

PS.  I had a great time, meeting owners/judges and seeing some great cars.   I appreciated what the Maryland Camaro Club (it's members) so to the point that I joined and paid dues to the Maryland Camaro Club for a year or so (even though I live in Alabama).

No smog. Chinese repo brake booster, wrong master cylinder, wrong horns. No cowl induction parts other than hood and air cleaner, looks like wrong radiator, cowl seal missing. Not trying to pick but that car is going to need a bunch to make it a correct car. Seeing all that stuff wrong I would be surprised if it still had the orig. carb, alt, dist etc, especially since they are not saying they do.

Depends on what aspect. If you are talking judging, there's many. If you're talking restamps, there always have been very few.

Well I am talking re-stamps, and specifically 1st gen Camaro specialists. (I know Steve has more knowledge than just Camaros)

The firewall tags (&rivets), the motors, the trans stamps, alternators, distributors, component dating. Hardware and suppliers marks that were used on the assembly line. The many changes during the different model years, from deck lids, to exhaust.

I agree with Gary no one guy knows it all, but I wonder how many guys are in that 1% of knowing most?

You say restamps. But then your list includes mid-year changes and hardware. That's falls under judging.
