One Owner '69 Z/28
« on: September 03, 2018, 11:49:49 PM »
My friend wanted me to fly with him to Texas to look at this car. I asked for important pictures FIRST. Got them today. Looks like a restamp trans. You can see an old 3 and other things from the original stamp. Block date in relation to car build?? I don't think we are flying down there. Too bad, was a cool story.. Danny

The VIN seems off for an 8-21-69 sell date. I suppose it could have sat on a dealer's lot for awhile.

The photo of the two young guys with the car back in '71 (on the dealer's website), I've seen that before, and recently. Will have to figure out where, but would think it was posted either here or at sYc - maybe a member's car?

Hate to say, but the trans looks OK.
Cast date is perfect for the block date. But no pics of the pad makes me think it's been decked....
No tag pic?
Car was on ebay several months ago too.

I enjoy seeing the vintage pictures. We should have a place on this site for folks to post vintage pictures.

Wow, I always kinda joke how I don't know sh*t. But I guess I really don't. Thanx for your time on this Kurt. The trans Partial VIN stamp has ALOT of space between the 1 and the 9 and is shallow stamped. Next 4 numbers are SUPER deep. Then back even shallower again for the remaining 2 numbers. Then that partial 3 below it all. Where did it come from? Man, I am LOST on this one. Waiting for the front pad stamp picture. If it's decked, we are probably gonna walk. Danny

Pad stamp is on dealers web site and looks good.  Lines up with block cast date just fine.
