Glass date code question...
« on: February 15, 2007, 09:19:34 PM »
Quick question...anyone out there have an 04C build car...and if so, what date code do you have on your windshield? My side glass was February and March, but my back glass was September of 68...so I am just wondering if windshields run close to the build date or older. Thanks.

My 02D Norwood car has all its original glass, and it's all dated December '68 and January '69; I wouldn't expect to find a 7-month-old backlite in an April '69 car, although anything is possible.

Similar for my 01C Norwood Rally Sport.  Windshield has been replaced.  It is 1969 glass, but date coded March 69.  However, all of the other glass iin my RS is date coded Dec 68.

So I guess the possibility exists that my back glass might have been replaced also?  Sounds like I should have the new windshild and back glass dated for February or March also.   Thanks guys.

Based on what I learned from OEM Glass, Bloomington, Il, 800-283-2122, but have not yet confirmed based on enough survivor Camaros, the front windshields were often within a month of the car's build date; however, is was not uncommon for the side and back glass to be date coded 1 - 3 months before the car's build date.

JohnZ....is your windshield dated Jan 1969, and the rest of your glass Dec 1969 glass?

Rich69rs....sounds like your glass date codes also follows this trend.

I replaced my glass during the restoration.  The windshield (W/S) had been replaced some time ago before my resto.  I followed what I learned to date code the W/S one month prior the car's build date and matched the date codes on the rest of the glass.  My Norwood 69Z build date is 05A, the W/S is dated April '69, and the rest of my glass is dated March '69.

Every piece of glass in my original 02D Norwood car is coded "VX" (December '68) except the backlite, which is coded "NV" (January '69), and the remote mirror glass is 9-DMI-8 (September '68).
