Decoding tag
« on: April 25, 2018, 11:20:54 PM »
Hi everyone....
Bought a 1967 RS, but curious if it’s real and what all these #’s and codes mean. So if anyone can decode this tag for me I would appreciate it...
    Thanks
     Jason

You may want to straighten those headlight doors a bit. Had to do mine. Bit of work but not hard.

You can download a program to decode your tag too, at this link.

It’s near the top.  Camaro cowl tag decoder in zip format.

Right now gotta get the horn to work, and reverse lights to work, and e brake, so I can get inspection sticker, then this winter I will start to really work and detail the issues.
Thus this tag say if there were stripes on the car or if it’s a solid color car ?
   Great info. I’m happy that it’s a real RS.😁

On the tag there is the letter”E” all the way to the top right. Thus it mean anything ?
There is also some letters and #’s all the way to the top left of tag, do they mean anything ?
    Thanks

your (a) code of 03D is the expected body build date...  4th week of March

Your (E) code is the interior color code (black)

I got this quickly from the CRG link previously provided you (I'm not a '67 expert, but let's see if I got this right)! :)

I went on that link, but I can’t figure out 765-Z. The example that it shows is black bench seat...is there a spot which it breaks down what that code means. And sorry for asking a lot of questions but I’m really new to this. Back in the day(1992) I had a 68’ that I just made into a hot rod. Now I’m taking a different approach, in trying to make the car as close as it was they way it came from factory. I guess when I was younger I wanted speed, now I want originality.

That’s your interior seat info. Black custom buckets, no headrests.

1967.  Model year production ran from August to June/July, then they began changeover for the next model year to being in August again.

Jason if you want originality, that's a 69 hood you need the flat hood.

So just judging by the picture if you truly want to go back to original. This is what I notice:

You would need to
-replace ZL-2 hood with a flat hood
-remove the white Z/28 stripes,
-add the black vinyl top and trim
-remove the spoiler(s)
-if the wheels are original then add the 67 (smaller) rally cap. (wheels should be 14x5 code B, or optional 14x6 code FC)
*may want to check if the antenna is original, looks bent back in the pic like it may be aftermarket.

Oh and make sure to have fun while making your changes! ;)

Thanks.... that’s the info I need. I wanna make it look original. And the antenna is after market. Another thing I noticed was that it has the 3 gauges on the console near the shifter. They are after market and do not work. Wondering if this was part of the deluxe interior or if it was not part of this car, cause if so I would like to find original gauges and somehow hook them up ...

Z11-69 Camaro indy 500 pace car convertible, White RS car with orange (z/28) stripes Cowl hood and orange hounds tooth interior.

and then in the southern region they offered the same paint scheme and options on a hardtop (Z10, although not officially tied into the indy 500.

Z11 is the convertible.

Z10 is the hardtop.

Its best to reference the link provided.  My suggestion for Rs67jaymc is to go through the whole web page of CRG (www.camaros.org) and read up on anything and everything Camaro related.  Also use the tab labeled "search" at the top left side of any forum page between "Home Help" and "Profile My Messages Members Logout" when you have questions before you post.  It most likely has already been covered.

Sorry mis-typed. Should have read my own link.... :P

(corrected now)

DW is correct. As discussed on a prior thread, best to use the GOOGLE search box and start with CRG Camaro, and then your key word.

Ex: CRG Camaro Z/10, or CRG camaro stripes

The CRG search engine will give you results, but is limited. Google will provide much more results in the CRG data base.
