Glass Norwood Los Angeles
« on: March 01, 2018, 12:50:30 AM »
Would there be a chance that a Norwood car might have glass from the Los Angeles glass plant, ie. glass ending in "10"? Referring to a late 1969 built car.
Thank you, Joe

Can you explain your question a bit more?  ie..  that 'code ending in 10' ???    I'm unaware that the glass was coded for the plant installing it....?

I think if you read the CRG glass dating page, in early 69 (January) each glass plant would also etch a code for the plant that produced the glass.
10 = Lathrop CA.

It wasn't the plant that installed the glass. It was the plant that manufactured the glass. My quarters & back window are "IV" & my RH door is "TV10". The TV10 glass was made at the LA glass plant & my car was built in Norwood on Aug 28, 1969 so all those dates work. I've questioned the door glass. Last night I ran into another guy who has TV10 glass in his 09D Norwood car. After reading the article Austin posted, I'm thinking both cars could be correct.....Joe

Not entirely correct; maybe you missed this part..  :)

 "...The "-xx" suffix on the LOF date code is the plant code. "-10" indicates the source was the Plant 10 Lathrope, CA LOF facility that supplied primarily the Van Nuys, CA Camaro assembly line. A "blank" code (no plant code) was used by Plant 8 that supplied all windshields to both Camaro factories, as well as tempered glass primarily to the Norwood, OH assembly line. "

I've never seen a glass date with a 'glass plant' code (on my '50s - 60's cars), but then we don't see too many VN/LA produced cars here, which is why I asked the question about the '10' referenced in an earlier post...  :)    Oh..  and the CRG glass section I believe has been updated fairly recently (since I read it)...

Kelley. Does yours have TV10 on all glass or does it follow the same as mine? Your car was built the same day as mine. Thank you, Joe

If I remember correctly TV10 was passenger side rear glass I think. I wrote it down but it is at my home shop.

The CRG glass report says Lathrope primarily supplied Van Nuys, so presumably it could also have supplied other assembly plants.

It's mostly the Aug 69 cars. I had one (08E) with XV-10 on the right 1/4. All the other glass was 'normal'.

Finally checked my 08E car. All glass has IV except the passenger door glass TV 10. Front and rear not original. All are Soft Ray LOF. I think Austin,s car is the same.
