Harrison Radiator
« on: February 28, 2018, 03:37:05 AM »
Hi Guys!  Does anyone have knowledge on a Harrison Radiator, why these are constructed with a "curved neck" top radiator out-let??  This was on all the 4-core
radiators that were equipped with a 396 or 427 big block engine.  This curved neck is available in some of the Camaro parts book, that you can insall on a Harrison non-curved tank.

Curved necks were on Big block AC equipped cars as a heavy duty 4 core unit. the curved neck cleared the AC compressor mounted on that side of engine. Copo cars used the same radiator so the factory didn't have to build a different one just for copos

Your statements are only true for 69 radiators.

I figured that he was talking about 69's. Did 67-8's come with curved necks? I didn't think so due to the AC mounting.

No 67-68's didn't need a curved neck as the AC compressor was on the opposite side of the engine thus no clearance issues.

Also the Curved neck rad was automatically included on 396 cars with Performance Axle Ratio 3.73 or 4.10 after April of 69 and is charged for under the Axle ratio... an additional 12 or 15 dollars.

Regarding 69 Camaro's only:
Yes, you can put a curve neck on any non-c.n. radiator, but the curve neck uses a different tank, and subsequent code, so you could not pass it off as an original and it wont add any value to a non- c.n. radiator, IMO.
