1969 Z/28 that's for sale
« on: January 24, 2018, 03:19:31 PM »
Does anybody know anything about this car? A guy I know wants to purchase it but I don't have a good feeling about it.
Thank you, Joe

Tag looks real and fits with the VIN. However, it was built with a black vinyl top. The chrome wheels and space-saver spare need to go. Not a high-end resto but maybe a nice driver.

Hi, I live in Salt Lake City, and drive up to Layton almost every Sunday to work on my 68 Camaro. If you'd need me to go see the car and verify anything I'd be happy to try and set something up with the guy selling it. I'm by no means an expert on Camaros, I'm still one of those newbies, but if you need anything looked at closely I'd be happy to try and help. Thanks

So would the car have had black stripes then to go with the black vinyl top?

According to the striping color chart, the stripes would have been black.

If your friend liked the car just the way it is, he could point out to the seller that the stripe and top color is incorrect, and make him a offer. If the drive train is correct it may still be worth it.

Chevy people are smart enough to know not to put their hand there. We don't need a warning label. :)

It's there because Ford distributors were at the front, very close to the fan when adjusting points/timing.

Chevy caught up later. It's molded into the fan shroud on later 2nd Gens.

Nice eye appeal.  Color changes really don't bother me much. I do like it better with the white top and stripes to match the interior.
