That station wagon must be using a class 5 hitch, which is doable being it has a full frame chassis.
I doubt you can get a class 5 for a uni-body car like the Camaro. At best it may be a class 2?

What I find interesting about the Ebay NOS hitch, is that it shows only 1967 Camaro as the application.  To me, that would indicate it was truly a very early made part.

I doubt there would be a different part number for 1968, so I bet later produced hitch versions might have listed 1967-68 on the instructions and box.

Just an observation....

I have the 69 accessories booklet - no hitch for the Camaro.

Perhaps what's adding to the confusion is that the eBay part,  is an NOS GM production piece which it is not. This is just another after-market manufacturer that sold after-market accessories for GM cars. There was no accessory trailer hitch nor factory trailer hitch for the 1967 Camaro model sold by GM. Ebay'ers are forever misusing the term NOS to mislead buyers into thinking the part is a real GM authorized part......There was no trailer hitch offered as either an accessory or factory option for the 1967, 1968 or 1969 Camaro.

Let me join the 'Hitch Club' as one '68 I had, came with one just like Hubley's shown.
Always thought it would be neat using a '68 Camaro as the tow motor for a '68 qtr-mile Camaro, but never happen.

Jerry MacNeish has a picture of his '69 Z towing his '69 L89 Chevelle to the drags back in the '70s.

In November of 1966 a few 1967 RS/SS Camaro convertibles were used to pull floats in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.  Not sure what kind of hitch was used but in an old thread on the Camaro Pace Car site about these cars Geoff Smith stated, "There is a GM memo somewhere commenting on the Chevy cars to be used here.  From memory there was about 20 Camaros and a hand full of Impalas too."  If that's the case then GM must have okayed it and provided the cars with trailer hitches or perhaps instructed a local dealer to add aftermarket hitches.

The first picture is part of an article that appeared in the September 2013 edition of Racer Magazine on the 1966 racing movie entitled Grand Prix.  The caption for this picture states, "Prior to its Dec. 1966 opening, Grand Prix takes center stage at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in New York. Yes, that is a somewhat bemused '66 Formula 1 World Champion Jack Brabham on the float."  This float had to be pretty heavy with not only the heft of the float itself but the weight of at least two Formula One cars and all the people standing on it.

The second is from Youtube footage of the parade that can be seen here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...TQLHuWhqFt6q--N0IcK7   Two different Camaros can be seen towing floats.  I took a picture of the Camaro towing the Grand Prix float that can be seen at 1:50 in the footage.

The third picture was provided by the aforementioned Geoff Smith in the Camaro Pace Car site thread

White RS/SS convertibles with red interiors (and bumper guards) and made before Thanksgiving - not too many of those! I know a couple that are possibles.  Wonder if the other cars also had similar options.
That would be a huge tow weight - at least there was no tongue weight.

Bought this car last April, it’s a one owner car, original rear quarters, trunk & floor pans, doors and trunk lid and I am in contact with original owner weekly, he bought car new and had dealer put on this trailer hitch. He towed the boat that is in the background in one of the pictures. He confirmed that the trailer hitch was installed by dealer in 1967.
This car is now going through a complete restoration back to original condition with hitch on car.
