Micro Wing Weights
« on: December 29, 2017, 04:08:57 AM »
I'm mounting my Red Line Tires tomorrow on the DF rims for my 67 Z. I cleaned a hand full of my weights and wanted to know, which are the correct weights? The one with the 1.5 on each side or the one with B and the 1.5....Thanxs Dave

Examples I identified Dave when restoring our 68 had the weight identified on both ends of the weight. That of course does not mean the others are not correct and I'm only aware of people looking for a Micro tire weight for correctness.
This example of a unmolested wheel/tire was a large font DF wheel from a 68Z with a Jan68 dated wide tread tire and note the tire weight. A few other 68Z DF wheels collected over the years had the same example.

Is this being scrutinized by the judges at the Camaro Nationals, etc???

Just wondering.

Chick,
Thanxs for the information. I had my wheels mounted this morning and did not use any with letters.

Seems that only a few weights had letters and that's possibly how they identified the weights because I have the following two weights with a letter.
1. 1.5 had a "B"
2. 2.25 had a "C"

Not that I'm aware and reason aforementioned "I'm only aware of people looking for a Micro tire weight for correctness." Should have typed only aware of people looking for Micro winged tire weight. :)

Its funny how into the small details we get with our cars. I have had people outside the hobby, ask what it is I do online, (since they see me on my laptop often), and I attempt to describe what it is we discuss here. I always get the same response:
"Oh , ok"
And they are looking at me like I am dressed up as Dr. Spock, or a hard core "Trekkie"

I am envious of you guys that get together on a regular basis with your cars. I have my car guys I grew up with, that I keep in touch with, but it seems so few of us car guys, and even fewer hard core first gen Camaro guys are out there.... (most are a generation or 2 older than me...lol)

Case in point-My new neighbor came over the other day, and I am thinking she is just going to say"Hi", and introduce herself. She comes over and says "Hi", and that her dad is into older cars, has also moved to the area and, can he come over and talk cars with me, or can I introduce him to some older car guys or car clubs in the area...(since she had seen me wrenching and driving some of my old iron)

I thought it was funny. I am kinda a old man in a young body I guess.  ;D

I didn't mean to hijack this thread, I just like the attention to small details that all of you are also into, and follow closely. Thank you
