engine bright accent

Yes - I'm going there, hate me if you must. But while digging to find an answer to a different question, I discovered something in the 1969 sales manual that MAY end this debate. Attached is a picture of a Day 0 Nova L48 which has been used as reference. The bright engine accent  for the chevy models differed per model and per engine, but in the case of the Nova and Camaro the L48 was the same by including the bright accent. (The L48 for a Chevelle did not include the bright engine accent, for example.)

<removed the word 'option' from title and text>

In this post, two images from the sales album. The first image is from the camaro section, the second is from the Revision Guide which was an addendum I assume was mailed to the dealerships. At the bottom of the Revision Guide on the front page it states "Developed by the Merchandising Dept. - Passenger Cars". On the first few pages, it has a revision summary by model - which is actually pretty cool on some of the options that disappeared during the model year. There is also a section per model.

What is interesting is that the description of the bright accent option changes in the revision section to not include the chrome oil cap. Just to support this is not a fluke, similarly but with different wording the same disappearing chrome oil filler cap occurs in the Nova section (I didn't post pics of the Nova sections).

KurtS:
I don't think there's much disagreement. I've never seen a chrome oil cap on a 69 SS350. Yes on SS396.
Just documentation catching up to what they built.

And I take exception to your title. There never was an engine accent option. Engine accents were part of other packages.

ko-lek-tor:
To call it an "option" accertains it could be ordered. An example you use of the Chevelle (and, I'll add, full size models), not having bright accents, implies that one could order the accents if desired. That was not the case. The engine packages either had or did not have these accents depending on the model car the engine was installed. Not all L48 (300hp) engines were created equal. That has been discussed on this site and I have owned and pulled enough of these engines, BITD, to know that only the Camaro/ Nova had "accents" that consisted of a chrome air cleaner lid and a chrome air cleaner lid ONLY regarding the 69 and 70 model years that I sought at the time. The full size L48s, and this is not a hard and fast rule, did not have 4 bolt mains either. Other than that, these engines, no matter what installed in, were the same.

To further clarify, I have never seen a 69 Chevy L48 engine with a factory chrome oil cap. I have never seen a chrome oil cap on anything other than a BB in a Camaro, Nova, Chevelle or Corvette and only on the sb Z28 Camaro and Corvette.
