GM stike in 1969
« on: February 01, 2017, 12:28:59 PM »
Hi everyone I've been following this forum for many years but just got around to registering.  I'm under the impression that there was a short strike at the Flint plant between April 1969 and early June 1969  If this is correct did they cast any water pumps during that period as I've been trying to find one dated in that period with zero luck.  Can anyone enlighten me

That was Flint Assembly (car plant), not the engine plant.

Where are you searching ?  They're out there.  You can try calling one of these 3 guys too depending on your location.  Bill Mock 918-333-0748 (Oklahoma) or Arthur Gould 631-269-0093 (NY) or Ron Burke 480-720-8000 (AZ).  All are very reputable water pump rebuilders and they'll have some on hand also.

I recall one water pump rebuilder that stated there was a shortage of 692 casting number small block pumps for Flint engine assembly in a brief period of 69MY production, and that 170 castings were shipped in from Tonawanda to make up for it. Never heard of that being verifiable since, but doesn't mean it's impossible.
