Hi guys,
  Just curious and trying to understand more info on the 67 302 engines. I have learned from you that 602 Z28's were produced and sold but were there additional MO stamped blocks for warranty replacements or were they CE blocks with no codes stamped? I have a stamped MO block with the vin on it so I assume it was one of the original 602 produced. I have posted the info previously in case the original car re-appears, but in the interim I'm thinking that I might build a Z tribute. Don't worry, I have no intention of ever selling it but if I did it would strictly be as a tribute. I have no need to try to deceive anyone if I go that route.

CE coded/stamped engines started with the 1968 model year. For 67, I am not completely sure how warranty engines were handled. I believe some did receive an engine assembly date stamp and application code.  Some others had a blank pad.

Since yours has a partial VIN, yes it was installed in a Camaro at Norwood.

Barry, do you have any info on the block? Any chance the Car lives somewhere or?

No Chick , I don't and that's one of my main reasons for putting it out here on the web for all to see, in case it has survived somewhere. I bought it on Craigslist from southeast Ohio and the seller never had any info about it. I bought a third car that was really a basket case, plain Jane Sport Coupe, with a lot of new parts for a restoration. I finally got the SS car to the Paint Shop so I've started looking this one over and trying to figure out what path I want to go down with it. With the Z block, it could make a great base for a Tribute car.

It did come with the original crank, a 6964, and I had previously bought an original intake so I've got a start to getting there. Still working on finding a pan and windage tray. Seems like the 67 is different than 68 and 69 due to the 2 bolt main caps.

It did come with the original crank, a 6964

That number is not correct.

It was also a large journal. Not the same as 67.

Sorry , fat-fingered, 6764 is the correct(and only) casting number for 67 and you are correct 68 are 2 bolt BUT with the large journal which is what I didn't add. Can you tell me if the 67 327 oil pan is the same as the 67 302 pan? It looks like the windage tray is the same but the bolts are different from 67 (small journal) to the 68-69 Large journal?

I believe the 67 oil pan for the 302 is different than the 327 pan but I think a 327 pan would work. 

You can ask Jon Mello, he should be able to tell you.

Is the early Z-28 pan the same as '65 Corvette 6 quart pan with the baffle?

6764 is not the only small journal crankshaft available for the 67 302. The Z-28 oil pans are specific. They are not the same as the 65 six quart Corvette pan.

I don't disagree with you that there other cranks that work, but are you saying that Chevrolet put out 2 different PN's for the original 602 production cars? Thank you for the pan info. Is there a company that makes the repop pans?
