The US ARMY Lt. That Had Owned The Car and Traded It In On A VW Bus, Stated That He Had Bought It New In California and Brought It With Him When He Was Assigned To Fort Benning Where He Met His Wide. They Wanted The VW Bus Go Camping In. He did not know squat about the mechanics of the car; stated it is as he bought it new.

I Glassed A '70 Dodge Challenger T/A Hood Scope Onto The '69 Z/28 Cowl Induction Hood. Looked Really Cool!

Hmmmm..  Can you post some pics?  That will help the most.  Trim tag, vin, engine pad, trans stampings, diff stampings etc.  Or email them to me and I will post them.

You have some weird stuff on that car.  those canisters on the 4 corners are from a convertible, they are dampeners designed to minimize harmonic vibrations in the convertibles and by your VIN this isn't a convertible.

M22 wasn't available on a small block SS in 67 (or any of the first 3 years) it was only available on Z28's and L78's.  Same on the 15" wheels, those aren't original to the car either.

What do you mean by 1 leaf on the left side of the rear, and 2 on the right?   Is one of those a round (or square) rod connected to a bracket on the rear axle, and the passenger side floor, or do you actually have two sets of mono springs somehow rigged up under the car?

Need a bunch more info to see what your describing, and we like pictures.

The passenger had two (2) flat leaf springs, one on top if the other. The drivers side had only a single leaf spring. All three (3) springs had a GM part number in them.

I don't have any pictures of the car left because of house fire consumed all of them
Do any of you know how to search all states DMV files for the VIN so I can locate the car again.
Thanks everyone.

There isn't a way. Because of privacy laws, most state motor vehicle departments won't even perform searches and if they do, you'll get very little information anyway. The only option you have is to start with the state the car was last registered in and go from there.

Are you from Columbus, GA or were in the Army and stationed at Ft Benning?  I recall a Bill Heard Chevrolet dealership there back in the early 80s, but maybe they were a big operation throughout the state or region.  As has already been mentioned, some of what you list wasn't factory correct.  By "new", do you mean the LT was the original owner from 1967?  What year did you get the car?  I see your original post was about a year ago.

Bill Heard owned a large string of dealerships up til about 10 yrs ago.. all over the southeast for sure...  Here's an article...

A similar situation with the Bill Heard dealership in Huntsville, with serveral weeks going by with everyone *wondering* what the deal was ....  The Huntsville dealership now operates as part of the "Landers-McCarty' string of dealerships...
