Teflon Tape!!

(1/3) > >>

Buzz1967:
Hello members!

My question is simple. Was Teflon tape used at the factory? Is it acceptable to use in a restoration that will ultimately be judged?

ko-lek-tor:
You did not explain where or how or what you would use this tape on, but my answer is simple as well:) No, & no,& never use t. tape for anything on a car.

maroman:
Every manual I've read says no teflon tape on fuel lines. The crumbs wind up in the jets or filters.

Z28Project:
I don't think you would ever need it on a fuel fitting since those are all flare type ends.  It would only be applicable to tapered pipe type fittings.

True, and plugs are used in oil galleys, Man. trans, rear axles. I may use plumber's pipe dope, but I still would never use T. tape on any car part. Take it for what it's worth, I am only a lowly Farmer/Mechanic with 40 years of A.S.E. certified Master Mechanic credentials.
