69 Z & LM1 & L48 Tune-up / Emission Decal(s) - revisited
« on: July 18, 2016, 08:46:01 PM »
A lot of you know we have done one of these particular decals for years now and it is one of our most popular items for 69 Camaros.  Over the years I have had numerous requests for some of the other versions of this decal.  There was a very lengthy thread on this a few years ago.  I have had to decline pursuing others as they are very difficult, intricate and time consuming to do in an effort to get them as accurate as possible.  Furthermore, my computer guru buddy got married again a couple of years back and his time was being devoted elsewhere.  Well, we can now commit some time to other decal projects.  In fact, we just completed the most accurate LS6 Emission Decal available.

A number of enthusiasts have forwarded pictures of originals and I thank you for that.  I have kept on file pictures from Mike Gooding (two different versions) and Bob Watroba (separate version).  We are going to take a look at these other three versions.  I cannot make any promises that we will be successful, so please stand by for progress.

I have uploaded a PDF file with copies of the four different versions.  Maybe there are more versions as well, but these are the four I am aware of.

There are actually numerous differences between each of the four versions.  Most of these are simply a matter of alignment for each of the various lines.  However, one of the main differences is the letter “S” at the end of the top line.  Two versions have the “S” while two do not.  In the attached PDF file you will note that examples “A” and “B” do not have the “S”.  The one we have done is picture “A”.

What I would like to know from the Camaro gurus on here is where (plant) and when (months) might have used each of the four examples.  I can guarantee that if we do get these done, and I add these three other decals to my website, the main question I will likely get is “Which one is correct for my car?”

Thank you in advance for any clarification.

Don, I am sure this is not intentional, but by putting 69Z Emission decal in the title, some related owners may be alienated. I can't help but think that you could widen your usable information if you would be all  inclusive and consider SS350 owners with the L48 engine and the owners of the LM1 350-255 hp as these cars also use the same label and those owners , here, may have useful information to contribute in addition to the Z owners.

Certainly was not intentional Ko-Lek-Tor (don't see your name in the post or in profile). On my website this label highlights all three engines equally. I was just going by what the demand has been over the years as per specific engines.

Don does great work and actually offers a good selection of correct decals for different models. It seems like the only thing that holds him back from making more is having a good original to work with. Keep it up Don  :)

Don
Have you made any wider spring tags? I think my front and rear are too narrow http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic

Don did you use an original spring decal when making those?

Bill, I used pictures provided and width measurements provided by other enthusiasts as I mentioned in our last emails of March 24, 2016.  I'll make up a wider set and send them out to you.  We're having a labour dispute up here between Canada Post and the Union so they may not go out until matters are settled.  I'll keep you posted.

Here's the pic as a jpg.
I'm surprised noone in the Corvette world had made an accurate version since they used the same decal.

Here's what I have:
C off a 02D and a 05C car.
D off a 01C and a 09A car.
2 different suppliers? Or inventory that was laying around.

I'll edit the title for the other engines (LM1 and L48).

"D off a 01C and a 09A car"

Kurt, do you know if that 09A car is from September of 1968 or September of 1969?

FWIW the 69 L46 Vette (350/350) decal is the same as well.
