First Gen Camaro radiator dates
« on: July 13, 2016, 01:32:51 AM »
Cook and I tried to learn something about dating of 1969 radiators over on another site, but all we got was insulted by an arrogant member.
What started the debate was a 69 Z radiator with a 'K' date. A radiator dated 'K'  was said to be an October radiator by one and November by another. When a 'M' dated radiator picture was produced, the November guy insisted he was still right and insisted that 'I" was used for September and he had 2 70 radiators as proof that 'I' was used.
Are there any 'I' dated radiators out there to prove that letter was used on 69 radiators?
Anyone here have a 70 radiator with an 'I' date?
Can it be said that the 'M' dated example is proof that an 'I ' was not used in at least 69?

I have a K date radiator out of a 10D car (oct of 68). It is not a Z  just a 2 core sb auto Radiator.

Thanks guys.  Unless there is already one of these started then Im gonna start a spreadsheet to keep this info in some type of order.  Hopefully more will chime in with their info.  This is what I would like to record and if someone thinks we need more info then please speak up.

Manufacturing Year, Car build date, engine option (if applicable), Radiator Codes, Radiator Date Code, Rad Tag Code, Picture (if available), and submitter of info.

Can't say that I have personally seen an I dated radiator in a First Gen Camaro.

Exactly why I wanted to create a spreadsheet..  "Sometimes it takes more than google search to find answers to alot of technical questions."  Which didnt work for me in this case..    ::)

Looking at data, rads are typical stamped dates - no I.

I am aware and understand Kurt but this has become more of a personal thing for me now.. ;)  Just would like to have the info of rads vs build dates of the cars..  Never hurts to collect data. 8)

I would like to add all 3 years not just 69 so please if others wouldn't mind adding their info that would be great.  Thanks!

Another data base? Look at you (Darrell's Research Group), Just kidding bro. I think it would help to have Radiator list as well. Sounds like a new thread topic could be started, similar to the gas tank post. Each guy could post the build date of their car, and the date on the radiator. I would think it would be a good thread, because any first get owner could post if he had the original, and/or figure out if it was date correct, or had been replaced.

You may want to post a pic of where to find the date on the radiator. (similar to the gas tank thread)

Thats kinda the purpose of this thread although it has slightly evolved..  People can see the pic above for the location of the stamping of the date.  If someone wants to move this to the Research Topics & Reports Section (I do not have access to start new threads) and delete the unneeded stuff that is fine with me.

Bryon would it too much trouble to delete the bs in the threads and take the important stuff and start a new thread in the Research Topics and Reports section?  And Ill manage it from there.

Good start, one recommendation would be to put them in order starting with the earliest 67, like the gas tank info. Easier to read that way. thanks Darrell
